About Master Guides

Definition: The Master Guide Ministry is a development and mentoring program for youth leadership within the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, serving the entire community.

Purpose: Develop Christ-like leaders to disciple children, youth and young adults.

Mission: To empower leaders through effective training and equipping and deploying them for service.

Vision: To see all young people saved.

Philosophy: The Seventh-Day Adventist Church is committed to training youth and young adults for leadership and service to God and humanity.

The Master Guide ministry is the highest level of leadership within the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s youth programming (Adventurers and Pathfinders). It is designed to train and equip adults to be effective youth leaders and mentors.

What is a Master Guide?

A Master Guide is an individual who has completed a rigorous training program focused on spiritual growth, leadership skills, and outdoor proficiency. While many programs focus on the youth themselves, the Master Guide program focuses on the leaders who guide those youth.

Being a Master Guide grants you a responsibility more than status. The Master Guide ministry was developed to train and develop leaders for the Church and, specifically, for youth ministry.

The Master Guide curriculum is primarily intended to train those who wish to be actively involved in junior youth ministry in their local church. Its objective is to provide opportunities for participants to develop an awareness of the role of child/youth leadership and become better prepared to accept this role by receiving training in:

  • Personal and Spiritual Development Skills

  • Development Leadership

  • Development Fitness

  • Life-style Development

Master Guide Club Guidelines

All clubs must be authorized and registered with the conference and comply with Risk Management requirements, Adventist Verification (Sterling Volunteers), and Background checks.

All members must be enrolled in serving Adventurers, Pathfinders, TLTs, and or any approved AY Ministry for the GSC.

The Scarf recommended to use is the Counselors Scarf for Pathfinders, the Pathfinder Scarf, or the Adventurer Scarf for candidates collaborating with the Clubs.

Master Guide clubs should be divided into areas, districts, federations, etc.

Master Guides in training should be under the sponsorship of an invested Master Guide registered with the GSC.

Master Guide Ministry provides trained leaders to the Adventurer, Pathfinders, TLTs, and or Youth Ministries of the local church, and the Conference in leadership training, discipleship, and outreach endeavors.

All invested Master Guides lay members or Pastors from other Conferences or Unions, willing to serve our children in the church, should consider getting certified or re-certified with our GSC Master Guide program. (See Recertification Form).
