Gulf States Conference Hosts Spiritual Retreat for Church Leaders
Camp Alamisco, AL – From December 12–14, 2025, Elders, Deacons, and Deaconesses from across the Gulf States Conference convened at Camp Alamisco for a weekend of spiritual renewal and leadership training under the theme, “Encounters with God: A Journey of Spiritual Growth.”
The retreat featured Dr. David Hartman, Professor of Evangelism and Church Ministry at Southern Adventist University, as the keynote speaker. Drawing on more than 30 years of pastoral and evangelistic ministry, Hartman presented a series of messages focused on prayer, Bible engagement, and deepening one’s personal relationship with Christ.
The peaceful setting of Camp Alamisco, coupled with times of worship, fellowship, andreflection, provided church leaders with a meaningful opportunity to step away from their regular responsibilities and be refreshed.
“It was powerful to watch our leaders pause, reconnect with God, and rediscover the joy of ministry, “said Elder Brian Danese, president of the Gulf States Conference. “Sometimes the best thing we can do for those we serve is to take time to be still and let God speak to our own hearts.”
The retreat concluded with a devotional message and closing remarks, sending leaders home renewed and inspired for continued service in their local congregations.
