Gulf States Hosts Education Leadership Summit

Camp Alamisco became a gathering place for church and school leaders across the Gulf States Conference during the GSC Education Leadership Summit held February 20–22, 2026.

The weekend provided an opportunity for leaders to come together with a shared focus on strengthening the spiritual development of students and building stronger partnerships between churches and schools. The summit brought together school principals, school board chairs, pastors, and head elders connected with Gulf States Conference schools.

Organized by Scott Bowes, VP for Education, the event created space for collaboration, planning, and meaningful discussion about how churches and schools can work together more effectively to benefit young people. Gulf States Conference President Pastor Brian Danese served as the featured speaker for the weekend. Through several sessions, he shared messages centered on discipleship, relationships, and the importance of intentional spiritual leadership.

His presentations emphasized that true discipleship goes beyond simply sharing information and instead focuses on building relationships that help guide young people toward a deeper walk with Christ. Towards the end of the whole summit, leaders participated in strategic planning sessions designed to strengthen the connection between local churches and schools.

Attendees worked together in groups to discuss discipleship plans for their school communities and explored practical ways both ministries can support one another. These collaborative conversations allowed leaders to share ideas and develop strategies that can be implemented throughout the Gulf States Conference. As the summit concluded on Sunday morning, leaders left with encouragement in their respective teaching missions.

This year’s GSC Leadership Summit served as an important step in continuing to build strong relationships between churches and schools while focusing on the spiritual growth of students across the Gulf States Conference.
