Visit with Children's Author and Biologist Sneed Collard III - Tuesday, October 21, 2008
Sneed Collard Author Visit
In February 2009 the Southern Union and the School of Education & Psychology at Southern Adventist University will be hosting an author visit. This author visit is an initiative designed to create an excitement about using literary nonfiction as a tool for teaching both reading and writing in kindergarten through 8th grade. Children’s author and biologist Sneed Collard, III will be the author making presentations in Atlanta, Collegedale, and Cleveland. However, because of the implied benefits of an author visit to both teachers and students the Southern Union is also making this available via polycom to site locations throughout the Southern Union. You will find more details under Resources.

Cooking Up a Revolution - Tuesday, June 17, 2008
Great WSJ article about The Edible Schoolyard, an educational program seeking to change the way kids think about food, learning and life. A brief quote from founder Alice Waters, "Eating opens up your senses. You're touching, tasting, smelling and looking. It opens up your mind; not just to the food, but to everything--to the world out there, and to nature."
